Marriott unveils some details about his partnership with Alibaba.

Last year, the American group Marriott and the Chinese group Alibaba announced they intended to enter a joint venture in the Chinese market that would “deliver more personal digital travel services” for Chinese travelers ». The joint venture aims to manage and improve Marriott’s digital offering in the Chinese market with Alibaba’s savoir-faire in technology and products.

The joint venture presents a range of new offering for Chinese customers:

  • A booking portal: Fliggy will be a Chinafocused booking portal featuring 600 properties in the Asia Pacific region. The objective is to gather 6 500 properties around the world on the plateform.
  • Alipay payments: by the end of the 2018 first semester, Marriott will have rolled out Alipay payments for around 25% of its properties around the world. The first targets are highdemand markets: in Europe, in the Middle-East and North America adding to properties in China and Asia Pacific that already accept Alipay payments.
