The Worldwide Hospitality Awards rewarded InterContinental Hotels Group, represented by Josephine Blundy, Corporate Responsibility Manager, for its social undertaking. The prize for the best Social Responsibility Initiative was thus awarded to the group for its The Shelter in a Storm program. In partnership with CARE, The Shelter in a Storm is a program to support local communities in cases of disasters, natural or otherwise. It is financed by fundraisers held throughout the year in InterContinental Hotels Group hotels and offices. The proceeds allow IHG to respond quickly when catastrophe strikes and come to the aide of victims in the local community. In 2012, 60,000 of the group's employees participated in the operation through various fundraisers, which collected some 300,000 dollars. The partnership with CARE facilitates the provision of funds to communities that are victim to disaster.See the video for The Shelter in a Storm on our YouTube channel, and the entry at Hospitality ON.
