The Four Seasons Hotel Singapore is ready to welcome guests in its new hypoallergenic rooms starting January 2021.
Designed and developed in partnership with the design and construction consultants at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and interior designers Hirsch Bedner Associates, the hypoallergenic room collection offers an allergy-friendly environment by minimizing the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOC) present in these rooms. VOC refer to the production of gases by materials using organic chemicals, also known as volatility.
With the international Greenguard Gold certification, which serves as a guide for the design of these rooms, VOC are deliberately kept at a low level, resulting in more optimal indoor air quality. Greenguard Gold Certification is a program of the Greenguard Environmental Institute (GEI), an independent, non-profit organization with internationally recognized standards and certifications.
Each hypoallergenic room is covered with a breathable Sangetsu wall covering. This wall covering is certified as having antifungal and low VOC properties.
The air quality in the hypoallergenic rooms is improved by the installation of ozone free needle tip bipolar ionization (NPBI) systems and UL compliant UV systems. Air quality is further improved with portable HEPA and UV air purifiers to filter the air for continuous sanitization of air conditioning systems for the treatment of odors, VOCs and airborne particles.
A stay in the hypoallergenic rooms is complemented by anti-allergic pillows, mattresses and bedding covered with anti-dust mite covers. These will also be washed and treated according to prescribed cleaning methods and treated with cleaning products that are guided by the same considerations.
