Key figures
Founded in 2003 by Tom and Melissa Magnuson, Magnuson Hotels quickly became a major group of independent hotels by providing hotel owners with cost-effective global brand support. In 2006, Magnuson Hotels launched three hotel brands serving the upper midscale, midscale and economy segments: Magnuson Grand, Magnuson Hotels and M Star Hotels. The group experienced rapid growth over the decade, notably through the conversion of more than 400 Best Western hotels, 250 Wyndham hotels and 200 franchised hotels previously operated by Choice.
In 2015, the Magnuson group unveiled the new visual identity of its three brands and formed a distribution partnership with Chinese operator Jin Jiang Hotels and its European subsidiary Louvre Hotels Group, enabling it to expand its global network.
The Magnuson Hotels group now operates more than 1,200 hotels and more than 100,000 rooms located mainly in the United States and the United Kingdom. It is the world's 15th largest hotel operator.
