Habitas is a hotel brand focussed on sustainable, experience-led hospitality with the mission statement of changing “people's lives through deeper human connection”. It was founded in 2013 by Oliver Ripley, Kfir Levy and Eduardo Castillo.
The brand opened its first hotel in Tulum, Mexico in 2017. Its global expansion plans have since led to openings in Saudi Arabia, Namibia and Bacalar, Mexico as well as the creation of a sub-brand called Caravan by Habitas. Plans are underway to open properties in the following destinations: Agafay, Todos Santos, Santa Teresa, San Miguel de Allende and Bhutan.
Habitas RISE is an initiative created by the brand to empower local communities, cultures and conservation efforts across the world. Its aim is to create economic and educational opportunities for the people living in areas where Habitas operates.
Ecological concerns are at the heart of each Habitas project. In the flagship Tulum hotel, the rooms are built on elevated platforms so as to not disrupt the natural area and all materials used in their construction are sourced locally.
