BTG Hotels, a subsidiary of the Chinese conglomerate Beijing Tourism Group, was founded in February 1999 in Beijing. Although the first years of its operation were marked by financial restructuring, they did not hinder its development, and in 2002 the group acquired 74% of the Hainan Nanshan cultural tourism zone, opening up to leisure destinations.

At the same time, the Home Inns chain, then listed on the Nasdaq, recorded exponential organic growth and launched several acquisitions: Top Star in 2007, Motel 168 in 2011, eJia Express in 2012 and Yunshang Siji Hotel Management Co in 2014. These dynamics enabled Home Inns to be the first Chinese player to climb into the world's Top 10 of hotel groups, before it is taken over by BTG in 2015.

Then at the head of three hotel brands (BTG-JIANGUO, BTG-JINGLUN and Shindom, acquired in 2012) operating across the entire hotel spectrum, from budget to high-end, and a major player in tourism, the BTG Hotels group acquired Home Inns at the end of 2015 for a record RMB11 billion (€1.6 billion).

In 2017, nearly 380,000 rooms make up the portfolio of BTG Hotels, which becomes BTH Hotels. Nearly two thirds of the openings recorded in 2016 were in the mid- and high-end segment, laying the foundations for a strategy to move upmarket. The group is also forgeing partnerships with major Western groups. And this is just the beginning.
