[UPDATE] Meliá announces free antigenic testing for all its hotel guests in Mexico and the Dominican Republic

In response to new needs, the Spanish hotel group will offer a free antigen test to all guests returning to countries where it is mandatory.

Meliá is also offering free Travel Safe with Melia Insurance, an insurance policy in collaboration with Europ Assistance and Willis Towers Watson, which also covers expenses in the event that a guest tests positive.

Meliá Hotels International has announced that in its ten hotels in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, the group will offer a free COVID-19 test to guests returning to their country of residence. With this test, which can be performed in the hotels themselves, the hotel company wants to facilitate the process for all guests who need a negative COVID-19 test to return to their country of residence. The participating hotels are: Paradisus Playa Del Carmen, Paradisus Cancun, Paradisus Los Cabos, ME Cabo, Melia Cozumel, Melia Puerto Vallarta, The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real, Paradisus Palma Real, Melia Caribe Beach Resort and Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort.

Guests can coordinate and schedule their COVID-19 test during the hotel check-in process. All tests will need to be completed 72 hours prior to departure so that results are available on the day of return (only applicable to reservations of a minimum of three nights). If a guest's country of residence requires a PCR test, the hotel will arrange for a test at a local center.

Meliá Hotels International will also offer, in alliance with Europ Assistance, free of charge with all reservations in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, an insurance policy that will provide coverage including, among other things, assistance in case of possible positive cases of COVID-19 during the stay. In these cases, the Travel Safe with Melia Insurance policy includes a free extension of the guest's stay in the hotel for up to 15 days, as well as assistance, including travel and living expenses for their companions while waiting for the negative result of the guest in quarantine, as well as assistance upon their return to their place of origin.

From January 10th, Paradisus & Me properties will continue to offer complimentary antigen testing and this until March 31th. Regarding the Melia brand, the hotels will be offering assistance to coordinate antigene testing in recommanded labs with application of additionnal charge for the test.
