Since January 1, 2021, international guests staying at Shangri-La Hotels in Singapore are covered by Covid-19 insurance taken out by Shangri-La at no extra charge.
The group is one of the first international hotel chains to make an extra effort to help its customers. International travellers planning to visit Singapore in 2021 can enjoy a more relaxed experience by staying at one of Singapore's four Shangri-La hotels.
In recognition of the increased concerns that travellers may have during this period, the Shangri-La Group will provide emergency medical coverage of up to SGD 250,000 at no extra charge if the customer is diagnosed with Covid-19 while in Singapore. This Covid-19 emergency medical coverage is currently only available to international customers travelling to Singapore via the Reciprocal Green Lane or if the customer is in possession of an airline card.
Mr. Chan Kong Leong, Shangri-La Group Regional General Manager for Southeast Asia and Australasia, said :
In everything we do, we always keep the customer in the forefront, their well-being and safety being our top priority. Having raised the already strict and rigorous safety and hygiene standards of our hotels, we are now going one step further by offering COVID-19 medical coverage to our guests travelling to Singapore, to give them even more confidence to travel. We chose to start with the Singapore market, as the Singapore government has relaxed travel restrictions in a gradual and calibrated manner and has emphasized that COVID-19 insurance coverage is a key element in restoring travellers' confidence. The provision of medical coverage at no additional cost to our guests travelling to Singapore is further evidence of the warm welcome we extend to our guests, and further reinforces our efforts to create a safe and secure environment so that our guests can focus on the moments that really matter during their stay with us.
To benefit from this Covid-19 emergency medical coverage, guests will need to book their stays at a public rate directly on the Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts website or mobile application for the dates of stay between January 1 and June 30, 2021 and will automatically be covered at no additional charge.
Highlights of the coverage1, underwritten by AIG, include emergency medical expenses up to SGD 250,000 for necessary and reasonable medical expenses if the client tests positive for COVID-19 during their stay. The policy also covers additional accommodation (room only) and travel expenses if the guest needs to extend their stay for medical reasons. Guests can contact an AIG customer service team for assistance if they are diagnosed with COVID-19 during their stay in Singapore2. They will also have access to 24-hour emergency travel assistance during their trip.
