The colossus of the Orient

The figures of the Venetian Macau, brother of the famous Venetian Las Vegas launched by the hotel casino chain Las Vegas Sands, have what it takes to make one spin. Opened at the end of August, the complex located in the gambling and resorts neighborhood called “Cotai Strip” is a veritable giant, literally one of the biggest buildings in the world. It houses the biggest casino ever built with 850 game tables and 4,100 slot machines. To these may be added 3,000 rooms (all suites), a 15,000-seat stadium and 1.2 million square meters of MICE space (enough to make Macao a key destination in the field). The Venetian Macau alone increased the 5* hotel capacity by 65% in the enclave, which deserves its status of the Asian Las Vegas more than ever. Moreover, the concept of the complex itself is in the purest Las Vegas spirit: pharaonic reconstruction of Venice, with life-size canals and gondoliers... but it is only a beginning. Sheldon Adelson, the visionary billionaire behind the project, plans to make Cotai Strip a hotel mega-zone. The company Las Vegas Sands plans to invest 12 billion more dollars to add 20,000 new rooms within the perimeter by 2010.The figures of the Venetian Macau, brother of the famous Venetian Las Vegas launched by the hotel casino chain Las Vegas Sands, have what it takes to make one spin.
