The Babel Community

The emergence of coliving stands out as a transformative force, as the last years there has been an important increase on the percentages of people who prefer ‘Coliving’ as a new way of accommodation, catering a diverse spectrum of housing preferences. This innovative sector, characterized by communal living spaces and a burgeoning sense of community, has witnessed substantial growth, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially targeting expatriates and travelers, it's now intriguingly attracting a wider demographic, including local residents. We are going to talk about the reasons that lead the investors to invest in specific regions and countries.

What is coliving:

Coliving has its origins in the early 2000s along the West Coast of the United States. Blending elements of a hotel with traditional shared housing, coliving offers a hybrid model that includes spaces that are crafted into private units and range from 20-30m2, while these might include private or communal bedrooms, bathrooms, and compact kitchens. Concerning the common areas these could be lounges, gyms, libraries, SPAs, coworking spaces, terraces. While there might be also services like access on the Wi-Fi, housekeeping, secured parking, streaming subscriptions and even fitness classes.

Target group:

This model tends to be addressed mainly to digital nomads, like university students, placing sometimes a strong emphasis on integrating green spaces and adopting furniture and designs suited to their lifestyle. These spaces aim to create an environment that resonates with the nomadic community's values of sustainability and connection to nature while offering adaptable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing living arrangements.

Beyond catering to young individuals, coliving has expanded its appeal to include families. The convenience of moving into a modernized setting with shared amenities and a supportive community is a significant attraction for families seeking temporary or transitional housing solutions.

Moreover, coliving spaces are well-suited for freelancers, especially those who lead nomadic lifestyles. These spaces cater to the needs of freelancers who frequently travel for work, offering a consistent yet flexible living environment across various locations.Haut du formulaire

But the expansion of coliving has gained so much and fast traction, not only because of the amenities and the low prices that it offers, but also because it promotes a model of living that is against the solitude.  Many young people prefer this kind of accommodation, as it gives them the opportunity to socialize, communicate and discover people and places, all over the world.
