The Soldevila family is strengthening its empire. The Majestic hotel group, which owns the Montalembert in Paris and the very luxurious Majestic in Barcelona, is opening its fourth property in the Catalan capital: the Hotel Murmuri. After extensive renovation, this 19th-century building by Catalan architect Enrique Sagnier was transformed into an elegant and discrete boutique hotel in Barcelona’s busy center. Located on the Rambla de Catalunya, just a step away from the luxury boutiques on Paseig de Gracia, the Murmuri was soberly decorated by the British designer Kelly Hoppen. The association of the black wood of furniture and different shades of beige, crème, gray and brown give the hotel a contemporary style and create a sophisticated atmosphere. The rooms at the Murmuri combine art and high-tech with a light regulator that offers 4 lighting ambiances, Wi-fi, flat television screens and Ipod speaker systems in each room. In terms of gastronomic pleasures, gone are tapas and paella: the hotel is focusing on Thai gastronomy with a restaurant managed by the famous chef Ian Chalermkittichai who has three restaurants in Manhattan. The Marfil is a very 1920s-style bar open daily until 2 am, welcoming fashionistas, and as spring shines forth out on the terrace. In order to offer long-stay packages as well, the Murmuri will soon see its offer grow by 5 apartments with 1 and 2 rooms.
