Brussels (Ville)

Administrative capital of Belgium, Brussels-Capital has a population of 1.3 million in 2017 and more than the double in its urban area.

The city is a popular city-break destination for the Europeans thanks to its geographical location, its heritage and its history. Brussels also relies on stable activity from business tourism. With the headquarters of many international companies and institutional bodies related to European institutions located in the city, it also hosts many congresses and MICE events. This combination of multiple types of tourism allows the city to achieve good occupancy rates all year round, and to grow on a sustainable basis.

The agglomeration of Brussels has more than 15,000 rooms within 106 hotels in its chain supply on January 1, 2018, slightly down from 2017 (-3.6%). In echo of the rest of the country, chain supply shrinks in Brussels.
