Barcelo strengthens US business with $64m take over

Spanish hotel giant Barcelo, which owns over 20% of First Choice, has made a 52 million euros take over bid for John Q Hammon Hotels, a listed company on the New York Stock Exchange, through its Barcelo Crestline operation. Hotel owner and hotel manager Barcelo Crestline, together with its management-only subsidiary Crestline; currently manage and lease 125 properties in the US under most well known brands. The Hammonds deal will add another 46 properties to the portfolio, with the enlarged company renamed Barcelo Hammons Hotels & Resorts.
