Due to its geographical location, Austria enjoys a mountain tourism and a very strong winter activity. Added to this is an increasingly developed business tourism, one of the most important in Europe with the city of Vienna. After having been the world's leading venue for hosting international association congresses with more than 50 participants for 8 years, Vienna is ranked fourth in the ICCA classification (International Congress and Convention Association) in terms of the number of events organised, behind Berlin, Paris and Barcelona.
Austria leads the European countries in terms of per capita tourism receipts (€1,936 in 2016).
