Baptised, last November, in presence of Czech Republic Prime Minister Mirek Topolànek, United-Kingdom Ambassador Linda Duffield, Mr Thomas Smit President of Waldeck Capital and Sir Rocco Forte, the Augustine Rocco Forte Prague will open in early summer 2008. The Augustine Rocco Forte Prague will make it the twelfth hotel for the family run group. It will have 101 rooms (81 doubles et twins and 20 suites), nestled in the heart of the Mala Strana quarter and at walking distance from main city’s attractions such as the Charles Bridge and the Wallenstein Gardens and only 10 km away from Prague’s airport. In a constant wish to blend in with the city’s historical and architectural atmosphere, the hotel is part of five historical buildings, the largest and most important being the 13th century Augustinian St Thomas’ Monastery hence giving the hotel’s name. The picturesque setting is maintained by the established courtyards and elegant gardens , key historic features such as cloistered terraces, wooden ceilings, wine vaults and stone arches as well as by the presence of practising Augustinian monks within the buildings aside. London-based designers RDD have been appointed, by Rocco Forte Collection’s Director of Design Olga Polizzi, to recreate the original ambiance inside the hotel. The Augustine will also feature 90-seat restaurant and bar, occupying the monastery’s barrel vaulted double height hall ; a second restaurant and bar of 70 covers. Two function rooms (150 m2 and 85 m2), a purpose-designed meeting facility and business centre, two meeting rooms and two boardrooms as well as a 80 m2 gym with all health and fitness facilities.
