A subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, Linkcity announced a project for a youth hostel made of wood that will take shape above a supermarket with a surface area of 1,100m² at Place de la Nation, in Paris.
The developer is partnering with Just Like Home, under the Parisian brand Les Piaules, which in 2017 was named "best hostel in France" by the website Hostelworld for the establishment it opened in 2015 in the Belleville neighborhood. This guarantee of quality must not have left Linkcity indifferent in its choice of operator for its hostel.
The VEFA (sale off plan) was signed with Immobilière Groupe Casino and construction is expected to start soon (June). There will be 192 beds in all in 39 single and shared rooms, as well as a rooftop panoramic bar-restaurant. The whole project will be managed under the Les Piaules brand and will be launched in the last quarter of 2020. Underneath, the Casino Group supermarket will be revamped in September, with a renovation entrusted to Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France Habitat Réhabilité, which will cover the entire level. The design was entrusted to the firm JBMN Architects and the agency Architecture Pelegrin, in compliance with environmental standards that enable the building to benefit from a low carbon emission and a green roof.
Far from being an isolated example, real estate designed according to the "mixed use" concept in which several functions are combined within the same building, has developed considerably in recent years. Vanguélis Panayotis, CEO MKG Group, explains: "In key urban areas, this makes sense, for example, through programmes combining retail, social housing, offices, hotels, etc... Revenue will be generated by many services in addition to hotel rooms. There is a very strong trend towards this real estate management approach to optimize returns."
