Sebastien Ebel

Formerly CFO of the group, Sebastien Ebel should succeed Fritz Joussen who wishes to leave his position in September.

The chairman of the supervisory board has proposed to the supervisory board of TUI AG to appoint Sebastian Ebel as CEO as of 1 October. He will hold this position for an initial period of three years. Sebastian Ebel's successor as CFO will be Mathias Kiep. Until now he has been Group Director Controlling, Corporate Finance and Investor Relations.

Fritz Joussen is stepping down from his position after leading the tourism group for ten years. He helped the group to get through the health crisis and above all to recover afterwards, and his colleagues are therefore very surprised by his decision. For his part, he believes that "it is the right time for a change at the head of TUI".

A graduate of the University of Braunschweig and the University of Marburg, Sebastien Ebel began his career at Talkline GmbH as Managing Director before joining Salzgitter / Preussag AG, where he was responsible for the company's development.

In 1998, he was appointed to the Executive Committee of TUI and held this position for almost 8 years. He then became CFO at A.T.U Auto-Teile-Unger Handels GmbH and 3 years later held the same position at Vodafone. He returned to TUI in 2013 still in the role of CFO. A year later, he became a member of the Group Executive Committee again.

The crisis that threatened our viability has been brought under control. We are now entering the next phase. Sebastian Ebel will become the new CEO of TUI. He is an excellent choice for the new start after the Corona crisis. As a member of the Executive Committee, Sebastian Ebel has been responsible for the strategic growth areas of hotels, cruises and operations for many years and has made them the most profitable segments of the group. I have worked closely with him over the past years and highly value his expertise and reliability. I am convinced that he will lead TUI to further success. He is extremely entrepreneurial and has clear strategic and operational ambitions for the development of TUI. He will lead the strengthening of the balance sheet and has clear ambitions for products, services and profitable growth of the business lines.

Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TUI
