Glion's teaching team is growing

Glion Institute of Higher Education, a specialist hospitality and luxury management school with campuses in Switzerland and London, has announced major faculty appointments for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Mariam Megally is the new Director of Glion's Master in Hospitality, Entrepreneurship and Innovation programme. Based in Switzerland, Mariam brings a wealth of experience in international business to the Master's programme, with an emphasis on entrepreneurial skills.

During her career she has worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Co before becoming Head of Global Strategic Innovation at Starbucks for Nestlé. Since 2012, Mariam has been teaching strategy at the Executive MBA of the Solvay Brussels School in Vietnam. She is also a judge and mentor for the global startup accelerator Mass Challenge

Eleonora Cattaneo has also joined the Glion team as Director of the Master in Luxury Management and Guest Experience. She previously taught the course "Building Brand Equity" in the Master's programme.

She has extensive marketing experience as a consultant and senior advisor to global brands and luxury hotel operators. Previously, she was Director of Executive Education at the Swiss Education Group. She was also Director of the Master's programme in Luxury Brand Management at Regent's University and a faculty member at SDA Bocconi in Milan.

Meanwhile, Debra Adams, who has been a consultant professor at Glion since 2017, is now the Director of the Master's programme in Real Estate, Finance and Development based at Glion's London campus.

She has previously held positions at several hotel schools in the UK and Switzerland and specialises in hotel finance training for finance professionals and operational managers in hotels, restaurants and leisure facilities. She is also a director and member of the national supervisory board of the Institute of Hospitality.

Nicholas Northam has also joined Glion London, where he will be teaching Global Real Estates Markets on the Master's degree in Real Estate, Finance and Development, bringing his expertise from a 40-year professional career.

He has been General Manager of several Marriott hotels and Chief Operating Officer of Marriott in the UK. In addition, he has spent more than a decade in asset management, including as executive vice president of Interstate Hotels and Resorts and the international arm of Aimbridge Hospitality.

Each of these appointments is of strategic importance to Glion as we enter the new academic year. I am delighted to welcome them to support the growing interest in our Masters programmes not only in hospitality, but also in adjacent areas such as real estate, luxury guest experience and entrepreneurship, which now account for almost half of the careers pursued by our students.

Dr Michel Philippart, CEO of the Glion Institute of Higher Education
