The diamond capital, Antwerp is also a hub for international logistics.
Its port, connected to Europe via a series of canals, a crossroads of motorways and railway junctions (1,100 km of the railways, whose ramifications lead to the Netherlands, Germany and France) make the city of Antwerp a multimodal platform of great importance (13,000 ha). In terms of transportation of goods, Antwerp is the second European port after Rotterdam; these two cities are connected by the Escaut channel. There are approximately 900 enterprises at the port and it generates 65,000 direct jobs and 183,000 indirect jobs.
On January 1, 2017, the corporate chain supply in Antwerp is 2,567 rooms.
