Aman strengthens its presence in China

The hotel chain keeps developing in the Chinese market after adding a new iconic destination to its portfolio, with four properties now operating across the country.

Hotel group Aman just announced the development of its fourth property in China: slated to open in 2017, the new hotel will be located near Shanghai. This upscale address will resemble a traditional village surrounded by camphor woodland. The unit will offer six dining venues and a spa including two swimming pools.

The property is the outcome of an ambitious project. The development of the Zhelin resevoir in the Jiangxi province threatened a historic village when Aman stepped up to preserve dozens of houses. Around 25 of them were painstakingly disassembled piece by piece and joined 10,000 rescued camphor trees on a long journey to Shanghai where they would later be resurrected.

The group portfolio includes 31 destinations in 20 countries, Aman-operated properties comprising hotels, resorts, and upscale private residences.
