10,000 “green hotels” by 2010 in China

China will build 10,000 "green hotels" (i.e energyefficient and environmentfriendly property) by 2010, said Zhang Zhigang, the Commerce Vice-Minister. In China, there are nearly 300,000 hotels. 10% of their revenue has been drained by their energy costs, indicating great potential for savings in consumption of water, power, gas and durable goods. It is estimated that the 10,000 green hotels will save 3 billion kW, equivalent to one year consumption of 1,85 million urban households...
