Italian investor takes 23% in Rocco Forte Hotels

Fondo Strategico Italiano is taking a 23% stake in Rocco Forte Hotels for an investment of 60 millions pounds sterling to develop the hotel chain.

Rocco Forte Hotels enters a partnership with Fondo Strategico Italiano. 80% owned by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and 20% by Banca d'Italia, the fund will take over 23% of the luxury hotel group exchange for a 60 million pound sterling (close to 76 million euros) investment in the development of the chain internationally.

Rocco Forte Hotels, which currently operates 10 properties worldwide, mostly in Europe, is already in advanced negotiations to develop projects in the cities of Venice, Milan, Naples and Sicily. In addition to Italy, the hotel group plans to open another property in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, next summer, and is currently involved in a project in Shanghai. The group is also interested in the cities of New York, Paris and Madrid.
