Luxury Retreats

The private accommodations booking platform Airbnb would currently be in negotiations to acquire Luxury Retreats, a Montreal platform specialized in rentals of luxury villas.

Aibnb continues to expand and diversify its portfolio, as Brian Chesky, the platform co-founder, announced it last November. The former start-up is poised to buy the Luxury Retreats rental platform according to Bloomberg. This operation is estimated at between $200 million and $300 million (approximately €280 million). On this occasion, Nick Papas, the Airbnb spokesman, said: "We are always looking to provide our community with access to new and different options, but we have no announcements to make."

Airbnb was beneficiary for the first time on the second semester of 2016 and, since its last fundraising, it has $3.1 billion. Luxury Retreats was created in 2002 by Joe Poulain.
At the age of 17, Joe Poulain created a platform for renting villas called Caribbean Ways, which offered travelers luxury villas in the Caribbean. Its head office is currently located in Montreal, Canada. The website offers nearly 3,000 villas in more than 90 destinations. During its development, the group bought the property manager Fabulous Home in 2006 and the broker Carimo in 2011.
