The ibis brand positioned on the budget segment adopts a new identity for its rooms. A concept that is synonymous with conviviality and comfort based on a redesigned space.



The French operator AccorHotels continues to modernize its umbrella brand ibis and has launched a new room for its ibis budget brand. The goal is to offer clientele the same quality of reception whether they are alone or with one or two other people. The space has been redesigned and optimized. The new identity also comes from a desire to create a "cocooning" environment combined with the notions of flexibility, wellness and fluidity at a low price. To accomplish this, the bed is a central element in the room; the former bunk beds will be replaced by double beds with a hideaway bed; and they will be outfitted with the Suites Bed concept. 10 versions of the rooms are available including two "tribe rooms". Bedrooms may become sitting rooms by rearranging pillows.

Modernization also comes through the use of a four color panel to create different settings (blue, green, red and yellow). Storage spaces were optimized in order to make them more practical, and part of the decoration. At properties in France bathrooms offer a variety of ambiences, designer accessories and spacious, bright showers. In this way the group is trying to improve the customer experience on the budget segment and respect the brand's evolutions.

The goal of the operator is to adopt this new rooms as renovations take place and new properties are built. By 2018, 25 hotels should be outfitted this way in France. In 2017, the concept will find its way into cities in Bordeaux, Amiens, Cahors, Noisy le Grand, Gennevilliers, Les Mureaux and Annecy. Then, in 2018 in Dijon, Clichy, Biganos, Strasbourg, Arras, Gonesse, Auxerre, Langres, Lille, Lyon, Château Thierry, Sarlat, Lens, Châteauroux, Soissons, Dieppe, Rennes and Genis Pouilly. Internationally, the operator hopes to unfurl this concept to 24 hotels by 2019, with the opening of new properties in Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Poland, the Netherlands, and Brazil.

The ibis budget brand has a portfolio of 561 hotels, or 54,231 rooms, in 17 countries. As of January 1, 2016, AccorHotels ranked sixth worldwide with 3,995 properties for a total of 554,508 rooms, according to data published by Hospitality ON.
